Serena Confalonieri designs the new Georgia collection and for the first time she applies her stylistic code to the fashion world. The designer has created a capsule collection of wool crop tops and dresses for Gaia Segattini Knotwear, a brand from Marche region that produces clothing and accessories using recycled yarns. The company works through a meticulous research process, promoting the concept of slow fashion, opposing the frenetic speed of fashion industry.
Design meets sustainable fashion and gives life to a floral, light and colorful collection. Georgia’s drawing is inspired by, and pays homage to, Georgia O’Keeffee, an iconic artist of American Modernism, known for her paintings that often had flowers as the subject.
While designing the pieces Serena decided to play with clean and geometric shapes, with a 60s look, combining them with more marked details – such as the gathering on the sleeves – and very contemporary proportions – the raw crop cut in the sweaters.
The graphic design is composed by stylized and geometrical floral shapes , that decorate the front of sweaters and dresses. The chromatic palette mixes feminine colors such as pink and lilac with neutral tones, such as white, black and gray and bold backgrounds from green to blue, from ocher to terracotta. The graphic decoration is strongly characterized not only by the color matches, but also by its three-dimensionality and changes in the tactile perception: the surface alternates plain areas with fluffy ones made by hand-brushed mohair wool.
While working on this project Serena Confalonieri has taken into account the brand’s philosophy: sustainability and limitation of the waste of raw materials through the use of valuable inventory materials. From this point of view, it’s the yarn that suggests the style and not vice versa, thanks to a fine craftsmanship capable of dealing with the material with great competence and able to give life to the designer’s stylistic idea.

Con la nuova collezione Georgia, la cifra stilistica di Serena Confalonieri si confronta per la prima volta con un ambito inedito: quello della moda.
La designer hrealizzato una capsule collection di crop top e abiti in lana per Gaia Segattini Knotwear, brand marchigiano che produce abbigliamento e accessori con filati di recupero. L’azienda lavora attraverso un meticoloso processo di ricerca, promuovendo il concetto di slow fashion in contrapposizione ai ritmi frenetici della moda.
Il design si presta così alla moda sostenibile dando vita ad una collezione floreale, leggera e colorata. Il disegno di Georgia si ispira e rende omaggio a Georgia O’Keeffee, artista icona del Modernismo americano, conosciuta per i suoi dipinti che avevano spesso i fiori come soggetto.
Nel disegno dei capi Serena decide di giocare con forme pulite e geometriche, dal sapore anni ‘60, accostandole a dettagli più marcati -come le arricciature sulle maniche- e a proporzioni molto contemporanee – il taglio crop al vivo nelle maglie.
A livello grafico, Serena Confalonieri stilizza le forme del giglio fino a farle diventare delle geometrie che decorano la parte anteriore di maglie e abiti. La scelta cromatica mixa colori femminili come il rosa e il glicine con toni neutri, come bianco, nero e grigio e campiture decise dal verde all’azzurro, dall’ocra al terracotta. Accanto agli accostamenti cromatici, il decoro gioca anche con la tridimensionalità e con la percezione tattile, alternando tessuto liscio a sezioni in mohair spazzolato a mano.
Il lavoro di Serena Confalonieri con l’azienda ha tenuto conto della filosofia del brand: sostenibilità e limitazione dello spreco di materie prime attraverso l’utilizzo di materiali pregiati di giacenza. In quest’ottica, è il filato che suggerisce lo stile e non viceversa, grazie ad un fine lavoro artigianale capace di trattare con grande competenza il materiale e dare corpo così all’idea stilistica proposta dalla designer.
La collezione Georgia sarà in vendita dal 24 febbraio alle h.13 sul sito www.gaiasegattiniknotwear.it in un numero limitato di pezzi.
