Serena Confalonieri signs the illustrations of the new Acanto’s menus, the restaurant located inside the historic Hotel Principe di Savoia, one of the most iconic 5-star hotels in Milan. Through her fresh and sophisticated style, the designer reinterprets the atmospheres and materials that distinguish the restaurant, creating fluid graphic compositions inspired by Chef Alessandro Buffolino’s the dishes.
The 4 illustrations, dedicated respectively to the Breakfast menu, the Lunch&Dinner menu, the Wine List and the Specials menu, anticipate the guests’ experience.Serena Confalonieri gives life to a coherent story, creating a common thread between the restaurant’s architecture, the menus and the gastronomic offer. The designs consist of a mix of shapes that recall the precious materials used for the interiors, such as the varieties of red, green, black and white marble, some of them enlightened by golden accents. Furthermore, in the illustrations it is also possible to glimpse some details of the chef’s dishes: the section of a pear, the shape of a waffle, a strawberry. Playing with combinations of nuances and graceful curvilinear movements, Serena Confalonieri’s drawings invite you to immerse yourself completely in the experience, and let yourself to be transported into a dreamy atmosphere.
The menus will be presented at the Milan Design Week 2023: for this event the designer creates the installation Foodorama, inside Acanto restaurant dining room. A journey through the colors and textures of food, where the images of the new menu come to life through original food sculptures: a dreamlike mise-en-scene, where food becomes both decorative and structural material, and it’s the protagonist of an experience that involves all the senses.

Serena Confalonieri firma le illustrazioni dei nuovi menù del ristorante Acanto, situato all’interno dello storico Hotel Principe di Savoia, uno dei più iconici alberghi 5 stelle di Milano. La designer reinterpreta con il suo stile fresco e sofisticato le atmosfere e i materiali che contraddistinguono il ristorante, creando fluide composizioni grafiche ispirate ai piatti dello Chef Alessandro Buffolino. Le 4 illustrazioni, dedicate rispettivamente al menu Breakfast, a quello Lunch&Dinner, alla Carta dei Vini e a quello degli Specials, anticipano l’esperienza che i commensali andranno a vivere.
Serena Confalonieri dà vita a un racconto coerente, creando un fil rouge tra le ambientazioni del ristorante, i menù e la proposta gastronomica. I disegni sono costituiti da un mix di forme che riprendono i preziosi materiali utilizzati per gli interni delle sale, come le varietà di marmo rosso, verde, nero e bianco, sottolineati a loro volta da accenti dorati. Nelle illustrazioni, inoltre, è possibile intravedere anche alcuni dettagli dei piatti dello chef: la sezione di una pera, la sagoma di una cialda, una fragola. Giocando con accostamenti di sfumature e aggraziati movimenti curvilinei, i disegni di Serena Confalonieri invitano a immergersi completamente nell’esperienza, trasportati come in un sogno.
I menù sono stati presentati in occasione della Milano Design Week 2023 con l’allestimento Foodorama, progettato dalla designer all’interno degli spazi del ristorante Acanto. Un percorso tra i colori e le texture del cibo, in cui le immagini del nuovo menù prendono vita attraverso originali installazioni di food art realizzate da Serena Confalonieri: una mise-en-scene dai tratti quasi onirici, dove il cibo assume una funzione decorativa e materica, divenendo protagonista di un’esperienza che avvolge tutti i sensi.
