About This Project
Vases and centerpiece
Simple and refined, like the name of Jewish origin that characterizes it. Mia is the collection of container elements (vases and centrepieces) in aluminium and perforated sheet metal, designed by Serena Confalonieri for Mason Editions.
The project includes three objects with different forms and functions, that may be placed beside each other – on the coffee table or on an entryway table – for a highly decorative composition.
From the more classic slender vase, 30 cm tall and only 15 cm diameter, ideal to hold cut flower arrangements or decorative branches, to the medium height (18 cm) and diameter (21 cm) container, which can hold more discreet bouquets, to the contemporary reinterpretation of a traditional memorable object: the timeless centrepiece, with a contained height of 15 cm, and a generous diameter of 30 cm.
The decisive aesthetic imprint of Mia is given by the contrast created between the soft lines of the lower part in aluminium, and the use of a strongly architectural material like perforated sheet metal on the upper part.
A divergence that is further highlighted by the distinct grid pattern of the decoration chosen for the metal, rendered particularly elegant by treatment in the two brass and nickel finishes, while the lower part is painted with highly tactile matte colours.
Elegant and feminine in the variations that combine the soft warm palettes (pink, terracotta and burgundy) or cool palettes (sage, grey or teal) with luxurious brass, Mia has a strong and decisive personality in the all-black version, that contrasts the black paint with the nickel-finished decoration.
