About This Project

Installation at Marmomac “Natural Stone Theater”
Working on the relationship between the natural and the artificial elements,  Libra installation depicts the two faces of the environment where we live, based on a often precarious balance between natural action and human intervention. For this reason, organic and solid geometric forms alternate in the set-up, composing totemic elements with a strong symbolic value in which the heaviness of the lithic element is not denied: on the contrary weight and gravity create balances between the various solids and the different stones . At the center of the installation we find a fountain, a symbolic representation of the indissoluble bond between mankind and nature. Around the fountain a row of totems, positioned in a semicircle, in which various functions alternate: seats, tables, vases, sculptures, all designed for the outdoors. I decided to work with both traditional materials used by Biancocave: the Lecce stone and that of Ostuni. To these I added Carparo stone  which, with its more pronounced nuances, emphasizes some of the installation’s elements.
